Jessie Pouchet
Jessie (She/They) remembers the day, as a kid, when she found herself daydreaming about snowy peaks from her hot, humid backyard in Miami. It would be years before she saw mountains like that and even more before she learned how to climb them. But Jessie is an expert at chasing wild dreams and loves to support others who are doing the same.
Before discovering her passion for climbing as an adult, Jessie was already a lifelong athlete. One of her proudest athletic achievements was representing the country of her birth, Trinidad & Tobago, in international competitions as part of its first-ever national gymnastics team. The strength, balance, and grace she developed during her 17-year career in gymnastics are evident in her climbing today, as is the boundless joy she brings to every adventure and opportunity to play on rocks.
Outside of guiding, Jessie holds a Ph.D. in anthropology, teaches college courses in environmental studies, and has conducted research on social inequalities in Egypt, Tanzania, and the United States. Her curiosity about the world, teaching skills, and passion for sharing knowledge make climbing with Jessie a memorable and inspiring experience.
