  • Dexter Creek Slabs is located in the town of Ouray, Colorado, with a five-minute drive from town.

    Meet in town with your guide, carpool to the ice, and enjoy the day.

    Our backcountry ice routes are unquestionably unique and customized to you. Learn a new climbing style and hone skills for larger mountain objectives, all with your own personal and professional SMG guide.

  • Dexter Creek Slabs Itinerary –

    Pre-Climb Google Meet or call before your adventure -

    Our team will link everyone via Google Meet or call at a predetermined time to introduce themselves, answer any guest questions, clarify gear, and explain what to expect when you arrive in town.

    In Town Meet Up -

    Guides can meet with guests in town before the day of the program to pick up boots with you at Ouray Mountain Sports.

    Dexter Creek Timeline – 7:30 am- 3:30 pm

    1. Day Overview at Cafe

      Move To Ice Park

    2. 5-minute carpool to the Dexter trailhead, then a 30-minute approach.

    3. 4-5 hours climbing to the summit of Dexters.

    4. 30-minute hike-off back to the base of the route, gear packing, then hike back to the trailhead.

Technical Experience

Ice climbing experience is required; you can book a prep day at the Ouray Ice Park on a custom basis.

Fitness

General climbing fitness with the ability to climb and stay outside in the cold for 8 hours. Ice climbing is a physical style of climbing that requires controlled and static body movement. Any training with this style in mind, before the seminar will be helpful.
